Emergency crews were called to a Zillah warehouse after an ammonia leak had been detected.  According to Yakima County Emergency Management crews entered Stadelman’s Fruit shortly before 10 o’clock Wednesday morning.  All employees in the warehouse, around 300 total, were evacuated.

In addition a portion of Zillah was evacuated as a precaution.  School children were held indoors while crews responded.  According to KIMA-TV one person was taken to a local Hospital for ammonia exposure.  Ammonia is a clear substance and it is difficult to determine where it has traveled to.

All evacuation orders were lifted around 12:30 p.m.
