Now through February 24th is National FFA week.  The event, according to Kristy Meyer with the National FFA Organization, kicked of Saturday, and runs each year during the week of President Washington’s birthday.

“George Washington was an agriculturalist and is really the forefather for us for farming and for agriculture as a whole.  So, it’s a wonderful time to take that week and really share with everybody what agriculture means to everyone in the world and how important it is to our members.”

Meyer said this week is not just a time to enjoy all that FFA has accomplished, but also a time to give back to the local community.

“Our FFA member really believe in strengthening their communities and giving back, so it’s why you see a lot of service projects happening during FFA week.”

Meyer adds Tuesday is Give FFA Day, a 24-hour campaign encouraging the public to support various needs impacting FFA member.  Wednesday, alumni and supporter will celebrate Alumni Day, and Friday, supporters are encouraged to wear blue to show their FFA pride.  You can also show your support this week on social media, just use the handle #FFAWeek.
