AFBF Official Concerned about “Anti-Trade” rhetoric

A top American Farm Bureau official said the anti-trade deal rhetoric by the leading presidential candidates is “troubling” for the ag industry.  Farm Bureau executive director Dale Moore said he’s concerned by the anti-trade stances of presidential candidates Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.

“For agriculture, these trade agreements are a key part of what helps us not only maintain but take advantage of opportunities to expand markets around the world an necessarily when you’re talking about trade free trade is one of those things sets certain buttons off in the wrong direction.”

Moore said, when it comes to agriculture, trade agreements like TPP move in the right direction.

“The way that we do them at Farm Bureau is these agreements are helping level the playing field because for a lot of countries their access to U.S. markets is not that limited.”
