Washington Young Farmers and Ranchers is encouraging young producers across the state to attend the Farm Bureau Leadership Conference this weekend in Wenatchee.  The three day event kicks off Friday at the Wenatchee Convention Center downtown.  WYF&R’s Kristin Hinton told the Washington Ag Network with the agriculture community getting older, it’s critical for the industry to draw in the younger demographic.

“Especially that 18-35 year old age group, and some people will even say into their 40s, are definatly the up and coming leaders, they are the ones that are the future, there for we need to make sure they have a good balance and can deal with all sorts of issues.”

Hinton added this is the third time they’ve hosted this leadership conference, so she has no doubt there will be something new for anyone interested in attending.  Hinton said with so many positions in agriculture opening in the coming years, this weekend’s conference will provide young people with great opportunities.

“You know there are incredible opportunities in every facet of agriculture, it’s a great way to basically to get more tools in your tool box, as well as have some fun, get away from your day-to-day activities meet some new people.”
