Tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada are on hold, but Oregon’s senior senator says the fight isn’t over.  Ron Wyden said the 30-day pause agreed upon by Mexico and Canada isn’t enough.

“We’re going to see more tariff chaos and we’re going to fight it at every opportunity,” Wyden said.

He and other Senate Democrats say groups from the American Farm Bureau to the National Association of Homebuilders oppose the proposed tariffs.  Wyden wonders whether the President’s plan is even legal.

“In my view, the statute that was used, the statute for an international emergency situation, is not going to be something a president can use to get a blank check and use this to impose massive tariffs and hurt consumers.”

Wyden said “everything is on the table” to stop the tariffs from taking effect.
