Washington State University Tri Cities will honor the life and contributions of wine industry pioneer Dr. Chas Nagel Friday evening.  At the closed door event the Wine Science Center’s microbiology lab will be named in his honor.  Chas’ son, Rob Nagel, told the Washington Ag Network his father would have appreciated this honor, but also found reward in his day to day work.

“He would take the satisfaction in doing the research, and that was what he lived for and that’s why I pushed for the microbiology lab to be named after him, because he loved to be in the lab, he loved to do the research that’s where he was passionate.”

Friday’s event kicks off a 6 p.m. at the Ste. Michelle Wine Estates in Richland.
