The Washington State Department of Agriculture has issued a crisis exemption for the use of the fungicide Kenja for use on blackberries, blueberries and raspberries.

The exemption was made after it was discovered that botrytis had developed a resistance to existing methods.

The Washington Blueberry Commission is stressing that growers follow the directions on the label and to not overly rely on Kenja and that it cannot be used on crops that will be exported outside of the U.S. or Canada.
