The Washington state Department of Fish and Wildlife said the Wedge pack is responsible for a wolf depredation that occurred in northern Stevens County last week.

On Monday, May 11th, WDFW crews were called out to the calf found injured on private pastureland. Investigators said between bite marks and scratches on the calf, nearby tracks, witness accounts and howling heard in the area, last week’s attack was a wolf depredation. The injured calf was monitored, but died from its injuries the next days. Wolves were hazed away from the calf when it was being attacked. A Cattle Producers of Washington range rider was assigned to the area.

This is the 3rd depredation reported by WDFW this year.
