According to NASS, planted Winter Wheat acres increased both across the Northwest and across the nation.  Idaho growers seeded 760,000 acres of winter wheat for the 2025 crop, unchanged from 2024, but 1% above the 2023 crop.  Oregon farmers planted 750,000 acres, up 1% from the 2024 crop and up 1% from 2023.  Washington winter wheat growers seeded an estimated 1.85 million acres of winter wheat for harvest in 2025 a 3% jump from 2024 numbers as well as 2023 figures.

 

When it comes to national numbers, Hard Red Winter wheat seeded area is expected to total 24 million acres, up 1 percent from 2024.  The largest increases in planted acreage are estimated in Montana and Texas, while Kansas is estimated to have a decrease.

 

Soft Red Winter wheat is expected at 6.44 million acres seeded, up 6% from last year.  Compared with last year, the largest acreage increases are expected in Michigan and Ohio, while the largest acreage decreases are expected in Kentucky and Missouri.

 

White Winter wheat seeded area totals 3.64 million acres, up 3% from 2024.
