Winter Wheat Planting On Schedule
The Spring Wheat harvest is pretty much done for the year and Winter Wheat planting has begun.
USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey said this year’s timing on planting is right on schedule with 17 percent nationwide in the ground.
“Leading the way at this early stage is Nebraska. They’ve already made it to 45 percent planted, 37 percent is the five-year average. Washington State right behind with 44 percent planted. The five-year average there is 52 percent. It’s been a little cool and wet in the Northwest in the past couple weeks.”
Only four states that normally plant winter wheat have yet to plant anything in the U.S.
