With the recent lifting of tariffs by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, it appears USMCA took another step towards consideration among the legislative bodies of the three North American nations.  The questions remains when USMCA might be considered by the House of Representatives in D.C. for a vote.  Ag Secretary, Sonny Perdue, says he's hopeful the trade agreement can be ratified by the end of the year.

“Based on the congressional schedule we absolutely need to have this happen before the August recess. The longer it lingers out there the more difficult it is, and we hopefully can get is done this summer.”

Perdue added that when comparing USMCA to the NAFTA, its an overall improvement for the Ag industry.

“We didn't get everything we wanted. My guys in the Southeast didn't get perishable fruit and vegetable items that they would like.” Perdue continued.  “But they didn't have it before either. It's not going backwards it goes forwards in almost every respect.”
