When It Comes To The Farm Bill, Where Do We Go From Here?
The Farm Bill suffered a set-back when it failed to clear the House a few weeks ago, but where do things stand on the Senate side?
["We have a target date of June 6th," said Senate Ag Committee Chairman Pat Roberts, "but that can be a moving target, to get the bill out, have everybody discuss it, and then hope to be on the floor the next week."
The Kansas Republican said this week the Senate bill would tweak some programs and not make big changes, but the House bill as it stands, would be a problem.
"There's no question the House bill as it is, I can not introduce that bill and have it pass, even the Senate Ag Committee."
Major changes to SNAP one of the big reasons HR2 failed in the House, he says those changes would not fly in the Senate. The current Farm Bill runs through September 30th.
