The Washington Association of Wheat Growers have released a statement as The Heritage Foundation, Taxpayers for Common Sense and others have called for major changes and reductions in crop insurance.

WAWG President Ben Adams said Eastern Washington growers have experienced weather conditions that have hurt the crop and that, “Crop insurance does not generate excess income, but rather it aids in recovering some of the loss so that we might be able to farm another year.”

Adams said it’s misleading to call crop insurance a hand-out.

WAWG along with the National Association of Wheat Growers is calling on Congress to ignore what they call “rhetoric” and work with farmers in working on the 2018 Farm Bill.
