The Washington senate Ag, Water Trade and Economic Development Committee could be dissolved in early 2018.  Senator Judy Warnick who chairs that Committee said she received that information following Tuesday’s election, in which Democrats claimed control of the state senate.

“They are going to split up the ag committee, they are going to take the agriculture piece and the water piece and put it in a Natural Resources Committee.”

Warnick said such a move is concerning for several reasons.  First she said she’s unaware of any farmers that serve on the Natural Resources Committee.  And the to be chair has no farming experience.

“I’m not sure what the thought is there, but I’m very concerned that ag is going to be pushed under the table for this next session anyway.”

And she said that will make getting a Hirst Fix through even more challenging in 2018.
