Warm Weather Finally Hits Northwest, But Not Expected To Last

After a cool, wet start to the month of April, the final week, for the most part, is shaping up very nicely.  Marilyn Lohmann with the National Weather Service said the Northwest saw a simple pattern change.

“One with high pressure that lasted longer than mainly a day, where over the last few weeks we’ve had a few ups and downs, but we finally go a little bit of consistency.  And along with the longer day length and the sun angle we can finally see some warmer temperatures.”

Temperatures across the region have warmed up above normal, but Lohmann is quick to point out that we’re not in record territory at this point.  She added that just a few days of warm weather and sunshine has had an impact on soil temperatures.

“They’ve warmed into the 50s and lower 60s, and that will continue through the rest of the week and drop back just a little bit for the weekend and early next week as we do still have some weather systems to roll through.”

Lohmann said she expects systems to roll in Friday, bringing a return to seasonal temperatures and an isolated shower or two.  She added those that need to spray, Wednesday and Thursday look like the best options.
