Warm Weather Felt Across the Northwest

After a slow start to spring, it looks like Mother Nature has kicked things into a higher gear.  Marilyn Lohmann with the National Weather Service says for many regions of the Northwest, it feels like we skipped spring and we’re headed toward summer.

“Temperatures over the past week were well above normal.  Some locations even up to 8-10 degrees above normal with both the overnight lows and the high temperatures.”

The recent warm weather has improved soil temperatures with some readings in the upper 60s to near 70s.  But Lohmann added the warm weather has also impacted soil moisture.

“Soil moisture range from above normal over most of Washington, to near and below normal over the farm southern Washington and Oregon.  So,  a little bit too dry down over parts of the Lower Columbia Basin.”

Lohmann says the Northwest will see isolated showers, and perhaps even thundershowers Wednesday and Thursday, but things should dry out and warm up as we approach the weekend.
