The Washington Farm Labor Association is notifying farmers and ag operations of two substantial changes coming to federal programs on August 1st.

The first involves the cost of the H-2A application process which rise from $325 per application to $460. The change is dependent on the Department of Homeland Security finalizing the change and publishing it.

WAFLA says that could happen as soon as August 1st.

Other changes involve fines for violations in H-2As or I-9 paperwork. Those will also increase on August 1st.

WAFLA recommends reviewing employee I-9 forms to make sure they are accurate and up to date and ask experts with any questions regarding either program.
