Agriculture secretary Tom Vilsack and many of his counterparts from around the world, gathered in Egypt this week for COP27, the United Nation’s latest climate change summit.  And he said this two day even held great promise.

“COP27 is the opportunity for us to showcase U.S. leadership and its approach.”

That is based on efforts to advance climate focused innovations and technologies particularly in the Ag space that started last year.

"We'll take to COP27 the notion that we started discussing in COP26 which is the importance of innovation generated by science.  The need for the U.S. to provide leadership to be willing to share the knowledge and innovation that's occurring here in the U.S. to be supportive of a market and a regulatory system that respects science and innovation.”

Included in this week’s COP27 actives, U.S. and USDA led sessions and panel discussions.  Vilsack also used COP27 to meet with global counterparts on various matters.
