Very Hot Weather To Wrap Up July

The Inland Northwest continues to bake under high pressure, and that weather pattern is expected to stick around for the foreseeable future.  Marilyn Lohmann with the National Weather Service said the hot conditions have dried out soil and pastures for much of the area.  While we haven’t see records, she says daytime highs have been roughly 5-7 degree above average, but those have been offset by cooler overnight conditions.

“Looking back to last year at this time, this July has been very similar to last July, and last July, there was some extreme heat through the first ten days of August, and then more normal temperatures through the month and we get those cooler overnight lows by mid to late month as the overnights get longer.”

Lohmann said it is going to remain hot through this weekend.

“Then the outlook for the first week of August, is for near normal temperatures and below normal precipitation.”
