USDA: Sugar Beet Harvest On Par
The USDA released it’s first numbers from the 2024 sugar beet harvest earlier this week. USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey said things look good nationally in the early stages.
“Nationally, 8% of the crop has been harvested. The five-year average is 9%. This time last year, we were also sitting at 9%. Progress ranges from 5% complete in Idaho up to 11% in North Dakota.”
Rippey added weather has been very pleasant for producers in the middle of harvest. Adding dry conditions have been enjoyed over the past week, and here in the Northwest, dry, stable weather is expected for the next ten days or so.
