The USDA has announced that $3 million in grant will be available to organizations who wish to help socially disadvantaged rural businesses in eligible areas.

USDA Rural Business-Cooperative Administrator Sam Rikkers called rural America a diverse place and that, “This funding will give small, rural businesses the technical assistance they need to compete in the global marketplace."

In 2013, a California group helped immigrant and minority farmers improve their productive capacity, helped them better manage their cooperative business and increased their revenue.

Applications are by August 1st.

Detailed instructions on how to apply can be found on the Federal Register.
