Triple Digit Heat Expected To Land On Northwest This Week

After weeks of temperatures at or just below normal, the region is should prepare for a heat wave.  And Marilyn Lohman, meteorologist with the National Weather Service said this triple digit heat isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

“Well the heat will be here for at least the next ten days, there might be some days that are a few degrees cooler, like this coming Saturday compared to Friday, but overall still pretty much hot each day.”

Lohmann said the sudden increase in temperatures is due to high pressure moving up from the Southwest.  While temperatures will remain hot for the next couple of weeks, Lohmann says it looks like we’ll remain dry which is not good for several communities that haven’t seen miserable rain for weeks, if not months.

“We say reports due to the dry weather last week, soil moisture decreased pretty dramaticly last week, so it should continue to deteriorate as we have these hot temperatures out the next ten to 14 days.”

Lohmann says those needing to spray should enjoy light winds over the next week plus.  She says the exceptions will be Friday and Saturday and then again on Tuesday, which slight systems roll into the area.
