“We educate legislators about our industry, our workforce, what it takes to produce the great fruits that we grow here in Washington state, and really making sure that they are understanding the challenges that producers face and that they're not looking to be exempt from requirements," said Jon DeVaney is the President of the Washington State Tree Fruit Association.  "But those requirements need to be reasonable enough that we can maintain our competitiveness relative to other states in the U.S. and other countries that are sending food products here to the U.S.”

DeVaney noted the day is focused on meeting with legislators as well as state agency officials.
