The timing of last weekend's news regarding progress in U-S/China trade issues and discussions was a positive for USDA's Undersecretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Ted McKinney.

"This planning started way back in October, and so notwithstanding that there were issues brewing, we elected to go ahead and, by golly we are so glad that we followed through, because it's been a wildly-successful visit."

McKinney was in China last week heading up a U.S. Ag trade mission, along with representatives from over 20 companies and commodity groups.  They are looking at conducting business and improving relationships with Chinese buyers interested in a variety of commodities.  McKinney said based on the talks, China is still keen on U.S. Food and foreign products.

"There were more than 100 Chinese buyers, and there were 180 meetings and that was just from half of our time."
