President Trump has come out very strong, very specific against what he’s called unfair trade practices by China.

“That’s given us as negotiators a lot of leverage,” said Jason Hafemeister with the trade council to Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue.

Recently, President Trump announced the Steve Mnuchin and Robert Lighthizer will travel to China, and the request of the Chinese government to discuss trade.  Hafemeister says since most the Chinese tariffs have not been imposed at this point.

“We have some scope here to negotiate with China."

Hafemeister said right now, the tariffs have led to uncertainty which farmers, investors and others don’t like.
