Rain across the southern portions of the country have started to alleviate some concerns over the topsoil conditions.

USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey said that hasn’t helped the Northwest.

“We have seen even drier weather than usual across the far west and that has brought Oregon to 79 percent topsoil moisture very short to short and Washington is at 67 percent.”

Montana has the worst topsoil condition in the country with 97 percent very short to short.
