Time Remains For ELAP Sign-up
While there’s not much, there is still time for producers suffering losses last year due to specific disasters and adverse conditions to apply for USDA's Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees and Farm Raised Fish Program, better known as ELAP. Farm Service Agency assistant deputy administrator Kimberly Graham:
“Producers of livestock at different curly sites have losses under ELAP have until January 30th to submit their applications for payment.”
That, she noted, includes dairy producers who incurred milk loss, due to reduced production from positive H5N1 tests; a provision established in July.
“To dates, we’ve had H5N1 infections that were detected in herds in 16 different states and we've paid up to $60 million so far and ELAP assistance to those dairy producers.”
