USDA just wrapped its second to Agribusiness trade mission to Vietnam and the 6th of seven the department has scheduled for 2024.

“Vietnam is the 10th largest food and agricultural export market for the United States," noted Under Secretary for Trade and foreign Agricultural Affairs Alexis Taylor.  "The United States is also Vietnam's third largest supplier of Food and Agriculture, which really made Vietnam a great location for this trade mission.  This market is, I think, really growing for some of our higher value exports like fruit and we continue to really invest in opening new market access for our U.S. producers.”

Taylor said the trade mission included representatives from 40 US Agri businesses, many industry associations, and nine state departments of agriculture.  The trip also included buyers from Myanmar, Cambodia and Thailand.  Taylor noted that they were able to made one big gain for the tree fruit industry before traveling to SE Asia.

“Stone fruit producers in the United States received import permits to ship this years harvest to eager Vietnamese," Taylor said.  "We had just opened market access for California grown Peaches and nectarines, and it was really exciting to be in that market to be able to celebrate that.”
