USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service recently announced its latest investments in the McGovern Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program, and Food for Progress.

 

“All told, it will be over $466 million, but govern Dole is $248,000,000 to nine countries, while Food for Progress is $218,000,000 of that to seven countries,” said Under Secretary for Trade and foreign Agricultural Affairs Alexis Taylor.  She added while the focus on these programs is international.

 

“They are so important to our domestic farmers as well our farmers who are supplying these commodities to school children or the commodities that get monetized to do developmental activities in all parts of the world.”

 

USDA purchases locally grown commodities under both programs, providing them to implementing organizations across the globe.
