The T-Bone steak is a step closer to becoming Oregon's State steak.  Supporters of the legislation says Oregon’s state vegetable is the potato, so why not make the T-Bone the state steak?

"Mr. President, thank you for this rare opportunity.  The stakes have never been higher."

State senator, and former president of the Oregon Cattlemen's Association, Todd Nash sponsored the bill honoring the T-Bone, with a debate featuring a lot of tongue in cheek comments.

Senator Floyd Prozanski questioned the cut’s origin.

"Why in the heck would we want to have the Texas bone steak as our steak?"  Prozanski noted.

"We have higher quality cuts here than Texas," Nash said.  "When you look at what Texas does, they take some of the most poorest quality cuts, such as the brisket, and try to manufacture something better out of that."

Questions were also raised about vegetarian cuts, and “Impossible” plant-based foods.  The bill cleared the Senate on a unanimous vote and moves to the House.
