
Sonny Perdue Begins His Tenure at USDA
Sonny Perdue was officially sworn in as the 31st Secretary of Agriculture Tuesday and made his first appearance at the USDA office in his new role.
Perdue noted the warm reception.
“Everybody likes to be where they’re wanted and what I felt as I walked in this morning is that I was wanted here and that’s what we want to give everybody a feeling of.”
Perdue also stressed the importance of good customer service and efficiency at the USDA.
“My vision for the Department of Agriculture in the United States of America is to be the best run, the best managed, the best regarded agency in this country with the best reputation.”
Perdue’s nomination and confirmation was widely praised by agricultural industry groups.
