Schrader Falls In Primary
Despite more than 20,000 ballots that remain uncounted in Clackamas County, Congressman Kurt Schrader has conceded falling in Oregon’s 5th Congressional District primary. Over the weekend, Schrader congratulating Jamie McLeod Skinner for her win in the May primary.
She’ll face Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer in November.
Election results were delayed by persistent problems in Clackamas County, but experts said over the weekend there is no path forward for Schrader’s campaign.
In a Facebook post, the 14-year rep thanked supporters, saying has been an honor to represent the 5th district. This is the first time in 42 years an Oregon member of Congress has been unseated in a primary.
