Oregon’s Salinas Calls On Administration To Fund Firefighting Efforts
On Tuesday, Oregon Representative Andrea Salinas and ten other members of the House Ag Committee sent a letter to President Trump highlighting the harm they say the Administration has done to the U.S. Forest Service. The 11 Democrats say multiple actions taken by the Administration will undermine wildfire preparedness and response nationwide.
The letter calls for the President to reverse course to undo the damage already caused.
The letter said in part, "we urge you to direct the Forest Service to re-hiring or replace terminated employees and resuming the distribution of state, tribal, and private forestry grants....It also means dropping ill-conceived reorganization plans until meaningful planning has occurred and required funds have been secured."
