The Representative for Oregon’s newest Congressional district has been tapped to serve on the House Ag Committee.  Congresswoman Andrea Salinas says her appointment is good news for Oregon’s 6th Congressional District, and the many specialty crop growers that call the area home.  She noted she’s looking forward to working on the 2023 Farm Bill.

“That is kind of a must-pass bill. And it’s a very bipartisan/nonpartisan bill that I think we need to work on across the country."

The Democrat expects those efforts will also impact her work on the Science, Space and Technology Committee, as it discusses energy, the environment and the climate crisis, issues she noted that are important Oregon’s farming community.

“How do we figure out how our farms adapt? And what are any of the mitigation tools that we could use? What are some of the research and development that our growers need to be able to produce the yields that they’re seeing today?"

Salinas added Oregon is poised to take advantage of federal clean energy funds.
