The USDA’s Rural Development program can help farm workers who are in temporary housing pay their rent with the Multi-Family Rental Assistance Program.

Rural Development’s Under Secretary Lisa Mensah says the program starts with new housing construction on a non-profit or limited-profit basis.

Mensah says they’re also looking at making the process more accessible and smooth as they've, “Been able to do a vital upgrade of our obligation tool. Instead of using 3-year statewide averages to predict the contracts for rental assistance, we now have a precise tool that can indicate property by property the amount of rental assistance need and even the costs of those properties.”
