The fourth round of NAFTA renegotiations wrapped up Tuesday and negotiators seem to be growing weary.

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said, “Frankly I’m disappointed by the resistance to change from our negotiating partners on both fronts.”

Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland says there is a winner take all mindset in the negotiations which is interrupting the possibilities of wins for all three countries.

Lighthizer said their goal is to modernize the agreement and cut down the massive trade deficit for the U.S. due to the NAFTA deal.

“We have seen no indication that our partners are willing to make any changes that will result in a reduction in these huge trade deficits.”

The next round of NAFTA talks is scheduled for November 17-21 in Mexico City.
