Price At The Pump: Uncertainty The Name Of The Game In 2025
This time tomorrow, it will be a new year. What is the expectation of 2025 when it comes to the fuel and energy sector?
Patrick DeHaan with GasBuddy said there are still many questions that make it hard to determine what consumers can expect in the months ahead.
“China's economy is going to be one of those. What happens with Russia and Ukraine's war; President-elect Trump has promised to end it very quickly. And also, the White House, we're ushering in a change in power as president-elect Trump will take control of the White House. That could bring with it uncertainty," DeHaan said. "At one point President-elect Trump has talked about potentially drilling more to decrease energy costs. And at the other side, he’s also talked about the potential of a wide range of tariffs. And certainly, that draws some uncertainty into the fold when it comes to oil prices. So, while you would think that the status quo may prevail for 2025. There are threats to that, that could really change the game.”
Oil prices were trading around $71 per barrel in Tuesday morning's action, the highest prices reported for West Texas Crude in roughly a month.
