The EPA and USDA are co-leaders on a Presidential Task Force looking at pollinator health.

EPA Ag Liaison Ron Carleton says they need to find that delicate balance and, “Work out some kind of arrangement, some sort of process where we can promote pollinator health yet at the same time insure that producers have the products that they need to produce to control pests and invasive species.”

That start by involving the producers and applicators, beekeepers, agencies that can manage that relationship and much more about, “What they can do working together to protect pollinators and to promote pollinator health. The best way of addressing some of this is better communication amongst these groups, better ways of notification when pesticides are going to be applied.”

Carleton says there are currently five states that have their own pollinator protection program noting that it has excited some communities about what they can do to help.
