Pacific Northwest Potato Stocks Report: December 15, 2023

Potato stocks in Idaho on December 1, 2023 totaled 100 million cwt. Disappearance of the Idaho crop to date was 41.9 million cwt. December 1 potato stocks in Oregon totaled 21.6 million cwt. Disappearance to date was 5.63 million cwt. In Washington, December 1 potato stocks totaled 61.0 million cwt. Disappearance to date totaled 40.2 million cwt.
Nationally, potatoes held in storage on December 1, 2023 totaled 285 million cwt, up 10 percent from December 1, 2022. Potatoes in storage accounted for 66 percent of the 2023 production, up 1 percent from a year earlier. The indicated season to date disappearance, at 150 million cwt, was up 6 percent from the same period last year.
Processors in Idaho used 26.1 million cwt of potatoes for the season. In Oregon, 13.8 million cwt of potatoes had been used by processors for the season. 2.29 million cwt had been used in Malheur County and 11.5 million cwt had been used in other counties. In Washington, 21.6 million cwt of potatoes had been used by processors for the season. Processors in the 8 States used 75.3 million cwt of potatoes for the season, virtually the same as December 2022.
