It's not a coincidence that the first day of Spring is also when National Ag Day is celebrated every year.  Among those enthusiastic about the new season and new crops, is Secretary Sonny Perdue, who celebrated his first National Ag Day as Ag Secretary.

"For the past 45 years, National Ag Day has played a key role in helping people understand where their food and fiber comes from and how important agriculture is to our national economy," said Perdue.

Perdue said Americans should remember the great work of American farmers 365 days a year.

"Our farmers, ranchers and producers all across America, are feeding and clothing the world and it is important to never forget that."

Events across DC, and the nation marked National Ag Day and Week.
