Schools nationwide last week celebrated national school lunch week, with an emphasis on the theme, "Lots to Love."  In the realms of nutrition, variety, and socialization during the lunch period.  Such activity includes parents spending lunch time with their children, and for one Arlington Virginia elementary school, students and staff spent time with the secretary of agriculture during Thursday's lunch period.

 

"I think the meal that we saw here today at National School Lunch Week is a great example of what can be done."

 

They serve creative, nutritious, and cost-efficient food in our nation's schools, according to secretary Sonny Purdue, talking to reporters after enjoying his school lunch.  The national school lunch program currently serves meals to more than 30-million school aged children daily.
