Oregon Democrats in Congress continue to push for an end to President Trump’s tariffs, following passage of a joint resolution in the U.S. House.  Last week, Congresswoman Andrea Salinas said tariffs hurt Oregon businesses, especially agribusinesses.

“My district is home to some of the best wineries in the world," Salinas said.  "And Canada is our single-largest foreign market. But after Trump imposed his tariffs, Canada responded with their own tariffs that lasted for months.”

On Wednesday, the House voted in favor of rolling back some of President Trump’s tariffs, especially when it comes to Canada.  Salinas voted for the legislation, saying the President’ actions have had a large ripple effect.

“Many Canadians continue to boycott our products, all while our growers and producers pay the price. They are facing higher costs, shrinking export opportunities, and real economic pain for real families.”

Senate democrats, including Oregon’s two senators, are calling for the senate to pass the legislation that cleared the House.  But in the event it does, President Trump is expected to veto the legislation.
