OFB: Sign Up Now For November’s Farmers & Ranchers Leadership Conference
While it’s still weeks away, the Oregon Farm Bureau says now is the time to register for the Young Farmers & Ranchers Leadership Conference. The November 11th and 12th Conference in Salem is open to farmers between the ages of 16 and 35. OFB’s Jenny Freeborn said the two day even will focus on cultivating the next generation of ag leadership in Oregon.
“Those who want to be future leaders in the industry, learn more about the industry, how to advocate for the industry develop their own skills as well as learn good information for their businesses.”
Freeborn said they will discuss a variety of issues directly impacting Oregon ag, from wolf management, forest management water issues and much more. In addition, she says young farmers and ranchers will learn how important it is for them to advocate for their livelihood.
“Our urban areas are getting more disconnected from agriculture more and more disconnected from the farm and so our voters and our legislators really don’t always understand what we’re doing on the farm, and it’s important for them to see our faces and hear our voices and hear our real stories about what we need.”
Freeborn says with only 70 spots open, they could fill up by the end of the month. To register, or to learn more, visit the OFB's Website.
