The number of tractors and combines sold last month dipped from November 2023 numbers. According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, U.S. sales of tractors in all classes dropped 14.5% compared to the same time last year.  U.S. combine sales remain soft, showing a decline of 24% year to date in 2024. U.S. sales of 100-plus horsepower tractors took the biggest hit in November, falling 37% percent from November 2023.

“November’s sales of tractors and combines follow the same pattern of the last few months of softness in the market,” noted Curt Blades, AEM Senior Vice President. “This slowdown can be traced back to high interest rates and uncertainty in the Ag economy.”

In Canada, sales of 40-100 horsepower tractors dropped 22.6% year-over-year, and four-wheel drive tractor sales were closer to stable but still 5% lower.  Overall, Canada tractor sales dropped 18.8 percent from last year.
