The state of Washington grows over 300 different commodities, making Northwest ag unique and different from the Midwest.  That is one of the reasons Congressman Dan Newhouse is pushing to have a Farm Bill listening session in Washington.  He said he’s working with Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers to bring the House Ag Committee to the Evergreen State.

While a location has not been proposed, McMorris Rodgers would like to have the session in Pullman, while Newhouse is vying for somewhere on the Columbia Basin or perhaps the Yakima Valley, both agree having such a listening session here would be a tremendous thing.

“But getting the focus on the Pacific Northwest and the unique agricultural industry that we have in our area is critical.  And I am very confident that we will have a successful effort.”

No word at this point if a Farm Bill listening session will take place in the Northwest.
