The 2018 Farm Bill is one of the chief areas of concern for most commodity groups this year.  And with the current climate in Washington D.C., some think nothing can be done in a bipartisan fashion.  However, Representative Dan Newhouse is confident Democrats and Republicans will work together to create a 2018 Farm Bill beneficial to the agriculture community.

“Mr. Peterson, the lead democrat, he was chairman one time to do just that, to pass the Farm Bill.  This will be the first time for Chairman Conaway to lead the effort, so I think there’s good cooperation between those two so, I’m optimistic about that.”

The first hearing on the new Farm Bill will take place February 23rd, at Manhattan Kansas, home of Kansas State University.
