Newhouse Letter to EPA Demands Accountability

Representative Dan Newhouse, along with 142 other Congressman, sent a letter to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy looking for answers to EPA funding what has been perceived as an anti-farming billboard.

Newhouse called the situation troubling.

“In fact, what is most disturbing is that it appears EPA approved some of the illegal activities of the grant awardees.”

Newhouse says the use of federal funds to advocate without the approval of Congress is illegal.

Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee Michael Conaway of Texas is concerned over what he calls a trend of anti-agriculture behaviors by the EPA saying, “It will be very difficult to trust the agency which is something you’d like to automatically be able to do, but in this instance that’s not the position I’m in or I can take with respect to the agency and that’s quite unfortunate.”

The EPA is investigating how the funding for the whatsupstream organization was approved.
