Earlier this week, Representative Dan Newhouse joined a bipartisan group of Congressional members to cosponsor legislation he says will protect undocumented young people brought to the United States as children.  House Resolution 496, the Bar Removal of Individuals who Dream and Grow our Economy, better known as the Bridge Act provide temporary relief from deportation and provide work authorization to undocumented youth.  Newhouse said this will have an immediate impact on Central Washington’s ag economy.

“This will give them three years of legal status, or at least the ability to not be afraid of deportation while Congress works on fixing our immigration laws in this country.”

The Bridge Act was introduced in the House by Representatives Mike Coffman (R-CO) and Luis V. Gutiérrez (D-IL).  Companion legislation was introduced in the Senate by Senators Lindsay Graham (R-SC) and Dick Durbin (D-IL).
