On Friday, President Trump announced that the federal government shutdown had come to end, and at 35 days it was the longest in U.S. history.  From here, discussions are expected to begin in earnest over boarder security.  But Representative Dan Newhouse said hopes that both parties will be able to address DACA.

“Not only DACA, but for Ag labor reform.  If we can make some progress there, that would be tremendously helpful for employers, agricultural employers across the state of Washington.”

Newhouse says details of the reopened government as still coming, but he noted Friday’s announcement was encouraging, showing the President is willing to negotiate with Democrats.
