On Monday, the Washington Council on International Trade named Representative Dan Newhouse the 2017 Washington Trade Hero of the Year.  Newhouse said winning the award was a true honor.  He added that trade is so important for the Washington economy, between the jobs created, or the markets it opens.

“I’m always looking for ways we can improve those opportunities, and will continue to stay very engaged in international trade and make sure that other members of congress understand the significance of international trade.”

Newhouse added trade benefits Washington economy, the ag industry as well as the U.S. as a whole.

WCIT President Lori Otto Punke said “Representative Newhouse came to Congress with a wealth of knowledge about the importance of Washington’s global competitiveness.  A third-generation Yakima farmer and businessman, he worked tirelessly to promote the Trade Promotion Authority, the Trans-Pacific Partnership and fully function EX-IM Bank.  We’re proud to honor a leader with such thoughtful consideration of local businesses, their employees, and Washington residents that depend upon a flourishing economy.”
